Our Story

Named for Bishop James Griffin to honor his many years of service to the Diocese of Columbus, the Center opened in 2007 on the grounds of Christ the King Parish on the east side of Columbus, Ohio, as a “special work” of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

We humbly serve the needy among us: the homeless, the unemployed, families in transition or in crisis, and the working poor, families that simply cannot make it through the month financially.

We are a natural outreach in our neighborhoods and serve those in need living within Columbus zip codes: 43209, 43213, 43219, 43227 and 43232.  Those that come to us seeking assistance from other areas will not be turned away and can shop one time.

All of our Services are offered free of charge to those in need, graciously supported by Our Partners and those who have asked “How Can I Help?

Our Vision

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we strive to meet our neighbors' daily needs and offer them hope through expanded social services.

Our Mission

Through Christ's love and mercy, we aspire to improve the well-being of our neighbors in need.

  • Over 1500 homes in our primary service area.

  • Serving over 2000 men, woman, and children each month.

  • Nearly a quarter of a million articles of clothing given out annually.

  • Over 150,000 meals distributed each year.

What we really do

We grow hope and love!  Just like the plants in our garden, people need the basic necessities of life available.  Then a bit of encouragement as simple as a smile, a listening ear or a hug, become like the rays of sunshine warming the soil, nourishing the leaves, giving strength for our fellow human beings to reach towards their fullest potential!
